Interesting post... well, in the blogosphere, there are so many unnoticed blogs...they are actually hidden treasures...
My two-cents. Hm.. one of the wonders of blogging is that you get to rant out your anger. Perhaps there should be ads for psychiatric treatment service in blogs that rant the a lot. We all know that we have sad cases of mental illness, the stigma associated with it, and the lack of access to relevant experts, don't we? ;)
As a Nuffie user, I'm shocked at the blogger [wannabes] out there. Whatever happened to blogging because we wanted to be heard, or have people commenting on your opinions, or just a platform to hone your writing skills?
Sigh.. what is the world coming to? *shakes head*
there're 2 ways 4 ppl to get famous. either be really good at something, or just 4low the steps of our legendary William Hung.
...i think
and why do you call those ppl "celebrity" bloggers? is it because of the size of their traffic? mentions in the press? i mean wtf is a celebrity blogger?
when I heard about the nuffn' sgd/rm 1 thingi, i was like wtf is wrong with the bloggers. satu ringgit also bitch like hell. ungrateful bunch.
omg i can go on and on about this urgh
i like suanie's blog! i like the way she writes.
But why didn't you mention me, zomg I'm gonna go all diva and say how nice I am or something. AND GIVE ME DOUBLE STACK ADS OR I'LL CRY.
My respect for Nuffnang is already doubling. Go Nuffnang!
Hmm... Getting money for blogging is cool and all but if there's no soul or real meaning in the blog, there's really no point in blogging at all... =(
Nice post! =D
good write.. i agree with you completely
what ever happened to the typical blogging style... now so many are blogging for fame sigh
i agree you all the way.
i have heard of some people arguing about the $1 cash out issue in nuffnang.sg too. i am a supporter of nuffnang SG.. and i get to know nice people like Ming, Estee, Nadia, Estee and jayden from nuffnang..
it is not just a business.. i get to know ppl.. nuffnang is just simply great lah! those who complain of not getting ads, perhaps you can just leave then.. let other ppl get ads..
but in a joking way la of course LOL!
btw isit my eyes or did ur fonts just got smaller..
http://www.sheblabs.com/ is so unpredictable lol.
and quesarah.blogspot.com - how come she stopped blogging there.. sigh..
sorry double post :)
my apology.
as for good blogs, you should look no further than those in your sidebar. some pretty good ones you have there. I especially like Alvin's. A very witty guy.
Aiya, celebrity blogger act humble got what use? In the end also kena boycott. :(
Well, I don't remember which resort I went but there is no beach at all which is like so sad. What's the point of going to Pangkor if you can't even enjoy the sandy beach right?
Anyway, I update everyday. == Because I have so many ideas until my brain would burst if I don't talk about them.
But this advertisement thing is not really important to me even though I have both nuffnang and advertlets. It's okay lah. Few cents then few cents. I don't demand much. The only reason I blog is because I want to improve my writing skills and I have so many things to talk about. But some bloggers, as you say, omg, the English is terrible and it hurts my eyes to read them.
i cannot think of one msian blog that is not commercialized (in terms of ads etc).
*waves at reallybites*
Malaysian blogs are way too obsessed with PR and ads and making money. As you said, what happened to just writing? Now it's all noise.
For a counter-point: http://adfreeblog.org/
btw: "blogosphere" is a damn ugly word. urgh.
p.s. i dun have ads on my blog lah. dun tink it gets 20 hits per day oso. evn my own bf doesnt read it >.
to be frank i've stopped reading a lot of blogs because i found their blogs to be rather.. uh.. rhetoric(?!). but what to do, kia-su-ness and money-face-ness of malaysians. sighh!
Also pretty sad about boastful people in uni that talks all non stop about their money making blog. But never mind about them ... cause different blogs serves a differect genre of readers ...
aren't you glad to know that ur readers and their readers are way different?! This puts u in a class far away from those bimbo blogs and 'sendiri syok' blogs!
quaintly.net is probably the most soothing, relaxing blog to read! No doubt about that...
wink wink nudge nudge =DDD
Read your blog on occasion. Good work i must say.
I agree with your post, especially the part about how blogs are for getting your point across and stuff like that.
Of course, money is an attraction to just about anyone. And making it by doing something seemingly as easy as blogging can make anyone start a blog just for the sake of it.
But i do believe that having a space to express your views without getting reprimanded by anyone is a reward in itself.
My thoughts anyways. Keep up the good work!
-Louis
i didnt know we cud complain.. i havent got ads for sometime ade altho my hits are higher than the 21 hits per day blogger haha but i dont care! my blog is for myself to rant, review or ramble... if no money, also nevermind! =P
oh ya, u wanted ppl to recommend some good blogs rite..
u shld try reading this blog, it's by a fren of a fren and the content is really good.. check it out http://k0ks3nw4i.blogspot.com/
am i allowed to pimp my own blog too? *winks*
where my vip pass!?
where my champagne?!
where my kiss ass personnels!?
DONCHU NO HU AI EM LOLOLOZZZZzzzz
su ann i love u forever and ever for this post that all of us are too chicken (or lazy wtf) to write.
after i stopped working with nuffnang and not know anything in the blogosphere, i actually became happier wtf. damn peaceful la now everyday do homework only wtf
ya finally i've been waiting for this post forever. i seriously seriously don't understand why people who can't write for fuxx can get famous also. is that saying something about our malaysian audience wtf
some people just don't appreciate what help they get. i'd been wanting to write this kind of post for a looooong time, but no one reads my blog so yeah haha don't think i'd manage to get my points heard.
There are some "celebrity" bloggers, including those in s'pore as well as Malaysia, are really very sombong indeed. I don't get it, why should they ditch "the little bloggers" away?? Actually, i think they should encourage them to blog as well, so this blogging industry will grow even bigger!!!!! And more, what if you are a celebrity blogger? That really doesnt make you King of the World! Even though you may be the top blogger in your country, there is always someone greater than you!
Next, urgh..check-cheng-check-cheng-minded people...Yes, it isn't wrong for us to put on soe Nuffnang ads on our blog but please, you aren't the bos! (Ming and Timothy are!) You are not the one controling the ads. So, shut up please respect them even though you dont have ads on your blog. Anyway, who wants to do "lossing money" business? I am sure no one wants?! Nuffnang isn't charity ok? What for they put the ads on your blog is no ones going to see it? Not happy? It's your problem, not theirs.
(Nuffnang people are very friendly. They'll help us whenever we need. NUFFNANG ROCKS!)
and somehow i've got a feeling who are you refering too. hahaha
and i dint know such people exist. can ask a company like that to give u ad and money one meh....
and i hate over-commercialised blog :(
and i think u know why :)
or issit the post about how women shouldn't be weak?
I confuse myself sometimes.
BUT IT'S DAMN JERNIH. wahahhaha. If i'm not mistaken, I've heard about her being all flustered about her fluctuating hits and her ad-pestering.
o.o
Oh, you were talking about me -.-
Speaking of which, I haven't logged into Nuffnang for awhile.
... OMG SOMEONE DROPPED A PIMP-BOMB ON NUFFNANG!!!!!11!!1!!!! WTH WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??!!!?211!?
You can try call or SMS me to see if I'm still around ler... if I am, then yea, we can go to the night market together-gether =p Or some other interesting places to visit in Bangok. =p
i think many people so called complained like "why i dont have ads?" or "why aren't my ads up yet?" and stuff because they DON'T KNOW how nuffnang is run. Most other blog advert firms are like adsense, where they really do get ads immediately.
on the other hand, nuffnang gives out ads only by a case-by-case basis, blog-by-blog. hence it's not people's fault that they dunno why they don't have ads yet? they probably think its cause of errors or something. (let's ignore the issue of rude bloggers here).
also, nuffnang did not say that there must be a minimum readership of the blog, so naturally, bloggers, even those with only 20 hits a day, would not know that and hence emailed to you all right?
they joined nuffnang with high expectations, but because of their own low readership they can't get ads, and tts y they aren't happy and may threaten to leave. im not saying tt nuffnang is incompetant, but maybe they shud be clearer in explaining how they give out ads. So that these small time bloggers know what they are in for.
yeah just some suggestions, because i think its unfair to slam every blogger who emails u all asking 'why no ad'. ignorance isn't a sin...
velli velli farny lar
But yeah, i totally agree wif u su ann....and ur still one of my favourite bloggers to read....hehe. u go girl!!!
There are some bloggers whom i know that are making big bucks through NuffNang with a wink of an eye. It's just disappointing to see them type out shit on one post.
Wait,correction.
It's not even a post.More like they post a pretty picture of themselves and type out a word of two with broken english.
Is that even called BLOGGING?!!?!?
Sigh: (
I personally feel that people with such good writing skills deserve more than these so-called-'diva'-bloggers.
I hope Nuffnang would see it that way...which is to take deserving bloggers much more into account.
Anyways,kudos to this post!
: D
danyel : actually i wrote you this long comment and then my stupid browser crashed so i very lazy to rewrite. talk to u on msn only lah :P
miracle : hi erin :D hey we actually checked on your account once because we were wondering why you havent been getting ads. and then ur stats showed that ur hits everyday are 0. what gives! was your code placed incorrectly? have u been getting ads lately? ps tim and i like your blog so dont stop writing :))
thegeekinpink : why would you have anonymous haters?!?! nvm your readership will go up wan :) trust meh
dlt2 : HAHAHAHA WILLIAM HUNG why did you have to remind me of him hahahaha
reallybites : yalar that stupid RM/SGD 1 thing. damn ungrateful. "oooh its not abt the rm1, its about the lack of notification!!" cis. i wanted to stab them all. yaaa suanie for the world !
charmayne : eh i'm not famous. but thank u for the vote of confidence :))
shaolintiger : are you going to start demanding for sponsored items too? :P
francis foo : pinkpau belongs in the angsty camp :P
ky : feed them delifrance food !!!
zendreus : thank you for understanding us :) it's so nice to know the work is appreciated sometimes. i've had it up to here with all these greedy ungrateful bloggers.
entwined : totally true. i find that i gradually stop reading blogs once they start churning out advertorial after advertorial about products they dont even believe in anyway. just takes something out of what you originally liked about their blog. and thanks for the compliment :)))
kevlin : HAHAHA THAT'S SO FUNNY i want one!
me : ya blogs just arent what they used to be :(
lly : i dont :) reading and replying their emails sent to nuffnang gives me enough angst as it is
michael : where where *twiddles thumbs
alea : thank u :)) eh babe do you watch gossip girl !
clem : yes!! the best blogs are those who dont cater to an audience. none of that commercial placating, but insightful writing about their days, and the good ol what-i-did-today type blogs :)
ylva : teehee you are the new nuffnang role model blogger i hear! :D hugsss. i heart nuffies like you!
pinksterz : as long as you're joking, and not rude and threatening to leave the network, that's fine :D
jimmy : it's your eyes :D hey i know both those girls. i agree; great blogs. quesarah blogs off facebook now, in little note thingies
jane c : really? where do you blog? and no dont apologize :) im sure you were nice about it (i hope!!). what gets on my nerves are the ones who act as if nuffnang owes them something all the time. haha alvin is the coolest guy ever :))
kennysia : awww dont worry! u see up there, suet and aud say they will hapuskan your boycotters for u :P
monkticon : i am waiting for the day that harga diri takbley cari !
michelle : you bought it for RM 15??? wtf!!! eh no i dont read a lot of janet fitch; Paint It Black was my first, and i loved it. have you read White Oleander? lol you really shouldnt put up two ad units together
tiara : yes! an obsession with PR! that's exactly it. tiara u keep at what u do, ok :) be our beacon of hope!! educatedeviate kicks ass
freethinker : yes there's a lot that people dont know about our so called celebrity bloggers :)
sheon : haha dont like that say; i very shy wan
christine : will do :D thank u for layaning my request for good blogs!
nyrac : HAHA nvm nvm my boyfriend doesnt read my blog too :( only when got posts about him then he will read :(
alysha : have been there :) i like it
adelyn : eh rhetoric is a good thing .. :D
pinkshirtz : thank you thank you :P you totally said something that i've been wanting to say for a long time, but never got the nerve to, which is : the one thing i love most about my blog are my readers!! they're all smart and always have substantial things to say. none of that "ooh im the first commenter!" stuff -_- teehee big hugs from me to you :P
linsey : wink wink nudge nudge heehee ;)
skyler : you're welcome you're welcome :P i have been in ur bound and gagged position before after all. hahaha
louis : im not against bloggers who wanna make a side income from their blogging.. but when it completely takes over and moulds the way you blog, that's when the blog starts decaying IMO. not to mention when all the money and 'fame' starts getting to their head and they think they can demand whatever they want
zzzyun : you're the kind of blogger i like :) "no money, nvm" that's great. i know so many bloggers who try to change their content to attract advertisers. i personally lost an advertorial because i blogged abt politics recently. but i dont care and im not removing that post just because X amount of money says i should. and yes koksenwai.. i know him :P
suanie : suanie you dont be like that ah -_-
pohnee : thank u! i believe zendreus just commented on this post. and luzzio is jolene's brother, yes?
sweat : do homework and be kept awake by WOW wtf
kimberlycun : hahaha thank u mapother
aud : it totally says something, unfortunately :( im glad our blogs dont have that kinda audience -_-
aiman : OMG its you. HAHA i used to give you ads when i worked in nuffnang; couldnt miss your url cos it's so long and so funny :P and shaddup, u and i both know ppl read ur blog. i saw ur stats on a daily basis after all !
christine : check cheng check cheng minded ppl.. hahahhaa that cracks me up! hmm i see you've come across people who dont support commercialization of blogs. its to each their own i suppose :) they can air their views and so can u. and yes nuffnang rocks !
vvens : yalar i read ur emails and i think i was the one who replied u too :P dont worry u were so nice in ur email. we've read some really rude stuff in our helpdesk.
jun : yes i do :)
sieutheng : sigh thank u st. i can always count on you
jayelle : har no lah that one post already, this one is diff wan. haha sigh so much material lah what to do. the whining and ad pestering is all true btw
k0k : i knew you would emo about this :P dont worry lah ur email considered ok already. we've got some really rude ones in the past. what pimp bomb! are u talking abt the new Nuffnang design!
observer : now what makes you think im talking about her :)
lee : EXACTLY. i dont think it's right or nice of bloggers to go around telling ppl that they have bad english, just because they are a blogger and 'write for a living'. pls lah. even if their english is damn good, its not right to say that to other ppl. the best part in this case is that the blogger who goes around saying that to ppl, has damn lousy english too. -___-
sc tan : thank u!
therealanon : yessss lets go to pratunam! im there on the 3rd. when u leaving!
nicky : hi nicky, thanks for ur 2 cents :) no lah nuffnang bloggers do know about the minimum requirement, because it's stated when they sign up for ads. and we cant ignore the case of rude bloggers, because those are essentially the bloggers im complaining abt. i've fielded many emails from bloggers who ask nicely why they arent getting ads, and if there is anything they can do about it - and im always more than happy to help them. it is the bloggers who go like "why am i not getting ads! are you trying to con me! my sidebar space is damn precious wan u know!" that piss me off to no end. small time bloggers as you put it, they should be realistic and nice about their demands at the very least. i dont understand why bloggers can behave as if nuffnang owes them something all the time. it should be a two way thing.. besides that little space they're giving up, what are they actually giving back to nuffnang besides a lot of complaints? that is what i dont get. ignorance isnt a sin, no.. but only if you're nice about it :)
fu han : thank u :D will read it now
dolphyn : me too :) joined nuffnang late for the exact same reason as urs. but you cant not feel compelled to be part of this when u look at how hard tim and ming work to keep nuffnang what it is today :)
debra fong : i totally agree with u. diva bloggers shouldnt be entertained at all in my opinion -___- got the nerve to demand more money from nuffnang summore when they're already making so much -_____-
Reasons below:
-Horrendous grammar, vocabulary and spelling
-The "I'll do WHATEVER I want!" and "I'll do anything to get attention!" attitude
-Degrading others and making fun of others = Funny in N's world!
-She will do something sensational, blog about it and get people's reaction. No one can comment anything remotely negative or it'll get deleted.
-Major "bimbo-ism" and shallow thoughts!
-Can anyone be more pompous than her?
I mean, the woman or shall I say girl is in her mid-twenties and acts like a child. I've stopped reading her blog quite a while ago.
Thanks goodness you and Kenny are the COMPLETE OPPOSITE!
Understanding the roots and purpose a blog is started out will be a sufficient way to "judge" them..per say. (directed to them people)
I've lost the appetite to blog for traffic, and i've lost the appetite to spend hours in producing good posts. It does give extreme orgasm when your hit count average @ 100, but at the end of the day, its all about weighing things out.
Keeping things down to earth, and interesting is the only reason i read blogs, as to knowing the things they do, well sorry, i am not a fan of understanding people's desire for hit count. Your blog will be a a reference point i can use. I've been reading your blog on and off for the past, 2 years... or 3, before you shifted here to quaintly. Really, its all about contents. If some bitch or bastard decides to be bimbotic and egoistic about their act, its just who they are and it just doesn't bother me that much.
Or maybe thats just me being so damn neutral. Yea..true....me being too neutral....
Keep it real. Cheers
As for your complaints about the quality of the writing, and the inability of many bloggers to use proper grammar, I completely agree. One of the reasons I enjoy your blog (and Kenny's as well) is because of your ability to use proper English. There are fewer things that are more off-putting than reading blogs with typos all over and random sentence structure.
On the other hand, I think it is hilarious that some bloggers are acting like divas, even with low web traffic. Perhaps they are having some difficulty realizing that web traffic does not necessarily equal popularity or success in real life.
su min : haha yea it's a cool blog. i like the drahmah
joshua : thanks.. but i dont see the parallel?
jonathan : personal blogs are always so much better than the ones who cater for mass audiences. too many ppl to please, after all, dilutes the quality of writing. what, you've been reading my blog before quaintly.net?? really?? hahaha that's so cool :D i miss my pinkskyes blog so much! :(
jeff : okay will do the blogs post soon :D and yknow, i really dont care about a blogger's english.. i think it would be unfair and not very nice to say a blog is good only if the english is good. but what i CANT STAND, and this is a real true blue existing individual, is a blogger who has bad english yet denounces others for having bad english. it's so ridiculous.
older : mr john evans, is that you? ;) you've been drinking again. alcohol, it seems, is wasted on the old.
now that i have moved to livejournal and am locking all my posts i guess i have a right to say aiyah who cares about ads la blogging is more about expressing yourself isnt it. i think i only made like rm200 from nuffnang and then i changed sites wtf.
i like blogs which are personal and actually have substance? if no substance then the blogger has to be pretty wtf so i can look at pretty pictures :D
and yeah i damn hate (edited) la wtf blog damn 7 lousy english also like cibai only know how to ride on (edited) coattails wtf.
i love how you went off on that long sanctimonious spiel, and then at the very end capped it with a 'no i'm not judging you or those young people', because your entire comment sounded pretty judgmental to me. i understand your concerns about premarital sex and all, but i fail to see how a cake with a naked man on it is - in your eyes - symbolic of promiscuity or disrespect. who gave you this secret periscope to our sex lives that allows you to make such assumptions that we do not know the meaning of sex or that we are even having it? and why is it disrespectful if the recipient, ie me, was not offended?
your comments, and your judgments on my friends, as well as your statements on how i'm supposedly 'missing out on my childhood', however offend me to no end. it offends me that you think i am ignorant about the plight of women in today's society just because i use the word 'fuck'. thanks for the history lesson re the origins of the word, but i find that its chauvinistic connotations are completely obsolete in our time. the word has evolved into something non-sexist; perhaps still vulgar, but essentially non-sexist. honestly, i think the issues of glass ceilings and the lack of education for women are far more pressing matters than the employment of the word 'fuck' in day-to-day conversation. nevertheless, i do thank you on behalf of all womenkind for your most heartening concern towards the state of our being.
oh and i find that in incidences such as dropping my keys in the toilet or stubbing my toe in the door, nothing conveys the sentiment of the moment more accurately than a good, loud, "FUCK" :) i'm all for economy, really.
lighten up, sir. i'm just a teenager :) missing out on my childhood would be to get my panties in a bunch over a little word like 'fuck' and cute cakes my friends want to give me for my birthday. that said, 5 minutes of my childhood has been spent writing an unnecessarily long reply to someone who's probably nursing the aftereffects of one too many saturday night whiskeys. oh no but of course i'm not judging you :)
It's an interesting insight on how some people are so obsessed with making money from their blogs, and then we have the 'diva' bloggers as well.
For me, my blog is all about expressing my thoughts, and not putting in random stuff that is meaningless just to get more hits. I have no qualms with people getting $$ from their blogs, but please at least do it with some integrity and respect for those who are helping you to get the $$!
btw, I used to be on adsense, but I find the ads totally irrelevant (not to mention annoying). I'm not on Nuffnang because I don't think the traffic flow is consistant enough to qualify :p A little side income may be good, but I'm not going to scream at people just because i'm not getting my ads - I have better things to do than that!
http://theabridgedope.blogspot.com/
I'll remove the advertlets thing then. As you say, not supposed to put two. =DDDDD
I've been a long time reader of your blog and i love your writings, then and now. (ps. we've had a brief encounter before but you probably can't remember. ;) pss. can't wait for blue moon years to be released!)
i remember writing why i only deserve Rm3.58 for my 1st ever ad, and that even got boss stewie to come to my humble blog to drop a comment..
oh well without them, i wouldnt have rm60 for a good meal and 3 mths later another rm60 meal haha..
in the blogosphere, i think you deserve wayyy more prominence than some bimbotic bloggers who throws their weight around just because 'they have a popular blog' wtf. =) Have a nice day!
Anyway, I think it was probably during the time when I was job-hunting. I didn't want employers to run a Google search on me and find that I blog, judging me on the things I write and the disgraceful grammar I display. So I blocked it for a month at least. Possibly around the time you were working at Nuffnang. Not sure..
But I reopened it. Lost a number of readers, but still had a healthy crop (amazingly!). Because for me, healthy is more than 1 and it doesn't really matter who reads my blog - as long as I have an avenue to spill my thoughts or my feelings. :)
I find that far more offensive than PinkPau's use of the f word. To understand what that means you have to realize that I have never used any form of profanity in my life, not even in a moment of anger - something I doubt that you can claim.
My bigger problem with you is that you seem to assume that simply because of your older age, that that age gives you the authority to condescend to others. Age alone means nothing if it is not accompanied by experience and maturity, neither of which you have shown much of here. I can say this from personal experience because as a 24 year old attorney, I have to deal with immature and insecure older attorneys and clients all the time.
Finally, I am disgusted by your attempts to promote self-censorship by others. Unless you haven't noticed, this blog was created to present the experiences and thoughts of the author. It is completely inappropriate for you to ask her to refrain from sharing her experiences or for you to judge her without knowing her. Has your life been lived in such a perfect way that you can judge others? I am reminded of the phrase "he who is without sin, cast the first stone."
If you are offended, the solution is simple, please leave and never return.
gosh.. i wanna dissect ur brain. well, not as in literally heh.
i think that'll actually kill me with the information overload.
"John Evans (August 19, 1877 - June 10, 1990) is the longest-lived man ever authenticated in the United Kingdom.
He had been a Welsh miner, and became the oldest man in the United Kingdom ever when he broke the record of England's John Mosely Turner. At the grand old age of 108, Evans was fitted with a pacemaker. When asked by interviewers for the secret of his long life, he replied, "No smoking, no drinking and no cursing".
The male longevity record set by John Evans, who died at 112 years and 295 days old, still stands.
He is recognized as the world's oldest man from November 25, 1988 until his passing. Guinness had recognized Evans as the "world's oldest man" in 1989, but let the title lapse after his passing, only to bring it back in 2000."

lighten up, supercentenarian.

the series is totally off from the book. Chuck and blair? wtf. but in the series, they do look hot together
eh wait, can't be me, i have too little hits. :P
Eh... why your blog attract so many weird people wan these dayz? LoL... remember wat I told u horrr! =p
I wonder if older is really older...? Hmmm... =p Still acting like baby only... speaks so holy bout sex, can only mean one thing... he ain't gettin' any... LoL.
The intention of my email was to... err... alert Nuffnang of any potential glitches in the system.
I kinda prefer the old design somehow..
*looks at older's comment*
y got apek read ur blog 1?
btw, saying this in your blog may seem like i'm ass kissing.but so be it!
I LOVE QUAINTLY.NET!!! yaaaayyyyyy. i just think no one else can be as genuine and down-to-earth like how you portray yourself to be.
love, a #1 pinkpau fan
Believe it or not, I had ads back in 1999 on my own domain. It was one of those free domains for a year, then my hosts like XOOM/NBCi/Brinkster all had ads.
I am GLAD to be able to buy hosting and NOT have ads on my site because I paid the price for my readers. As if I am not vehemently pimping whatever I believe in on my blog already.
http://scherzquin.blogspot.com/
Which is somewhat why I've shied away from the blogosphere. Too much shit flying around. Blogs getting impersonal. Everyone wants to be rich and famous.
Mind dropping me a word on who's the guy?
tze : what! rm200 is a lot. dont tell me u just left it in ur acc!
nileey : yes! you would think at least some degree of gratitude would be shown. they're making THOUSANDS from nuffnang, but not so much as a word of thanks back. rude isnt it !
gin : go study for spm!
jimmy : stella! :) she writes some great dont-mess-with-me stuff.
iamthewitch : im glad i helped in that sense :) i think a lot of bloggers are very unaware about exactly how much nuffnang does for them.
michelle : :P
nicholask : thanks for the links :D it's always nice to have good blogs being shared
jean : waiiiit wait wait ! when did we meet ! did you write for blue moon years too?
lotsofcravings : wow did you really write a post abt that? that's so cool of you :) believe me when i say such gestures go a long way with us at nuffnang :)
phooisze : yea i remember the days when people used to have blogs that were all about quirky designs, personal writing, online communities.. :) very nice wan. now quirky original designs have been replaced by blogskins, personal writing by commercial after commercial, online communities by weird forums where the members are only interested in putting up pictures of japanese or corean models. SIGH. and thank u for the compliment :))
miracle : hey that was a smart move on your part about the blog, although there was nothing wrong with ur grammar :P and im sure your readers will come bak :)

now mr evans.....chill dawg...... simple fact, your 'generation' and ours are different, very different. we are brought up differently, we are living in a very different environment now. and we are doing what nature wants us to do....'evolve'.
from my point of view, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the cake. it was a gift for her from her buddies.
however, IF someone unfamiliar gave her that cake, then the intention would be very questionable dee.
well.. i've seen and met both the @$$ and humble "celebrity blogger".. they are just.. both diff world. just how you put it in words.. i'm grateful for the friends i've made thru bloggersphere.. they are good friends till today..
i think.. the theater shown last weekend. "Eh No Free Ticket Ah?" was the exact example and could be applied to all Malaysian alike.
the only good blog i've been reading so far is http://waiterrant.net
Just simply the kind of blog i would read.. very fresh..
p.s. never let me go is really good. haha. kazuo ishiguro is genius!
I don't mind Nuffnang ads on blogs actually. They're pretty discreet, and in some cases, plain pretty =) My blog's been obscure/ closed/ private from the start, and I have the feeling it will always remain that way, so this maelstrom of 'commercial blogging', so to speak, has left me relatively untouched.
Heh, I guess I'm just paranoid like that XD Not to mention lacking the balls to go out on a limb and open myself to public scrutiny. Though come to think of it, my life's pretty much a yawnfest, so there wouldn't be anything in there to interest anyone, much less cause a ruckus LOL.
Love your blog babe, you know I do, read it everytime I go online =) The only other blog I read with such regularity would be Sen Wai's. Plus thanks to quaintly.net I've discovered the joys of Sweat Betul and FourFeetNine too!
ps: LOL at your reply to Mr Evans. Heh - takes all kinds to make a world hey?
songjun : no lah, my dad's england where got that good. my dad's also not that judgmental
yerdeh : apparently they do!
pinkshirtz : no lah actually i'm quite rubbish at arguing. always lose my train of thought. my secret weapon is just throwing my hands up in the air and going 'YOU'RE TOO MUCH LAH, I GIVE UP!' and then storming out. hahaha
sheon : no i wont forget u cos ur supposed to gimme tau sar pneah!
pinkshirtz : ooi where got yellow.. it's turquoise! the one that i wore to a pool party right? drop me an email and i'll tell u. sorry ah got to be quite secretive for now cos i actually plan to blog abt the shop one day :)
jeff : indeed it is! :))
tom : 'eh no free ticket ah' is showing already? REALLY? i thought next week. okok thanks for reminding me. and waiterrant is good, but he used to be a lot better. nowadays his posts just sound really repetitive
pau : rbj has some of the best blogs :) really the only place you can find a whole directory of blogs that remain the old-school way of blogging
mahathir : sigh do NOT get me started on hindraf
sam poh : thanks sam :) u shd totally visit pangkor laut one day!
michelle : haha yes i saw it!! thanks very much for the pimpage :D but you overpraise me
sarah : thank u :)) haha yes a lot of money faced people around :( spoil the blogs only lah :(
formerly from ssg : well, disregarding the fact that taylors college is an advertiser on my blog, i actually do think that it's a great place to do your alvls. i would say look nowhere else. now i only wish someone had told me this when i'd just finished my SPM :P how did your spm go? all the best for your remaining papers!!
michellesy : it's a good thing, i think, that your blog is ad-less :) we need a good balance of blogs with ads and blogs without. haha yes koksenwai, sweat betul and fourfeetnine are kick ass!
Pinkpau, i really hope that you can recommend a few high quality blogs for us to read.
my english is really bad ... =(
i dont want the low quality blogs to worsen my already-broken english with their poor language !!!
p/s: luv ur blog so much ^^
I agree with Dan-yel that at the end of the day, Nuffnang is a business entity, and must think itself as so. I do agree with everyone else that Nuffnang's also playing a huge role as a blogging community, which is great, but it's not a charity. Everyone must be paid, INCLUDING the employers. Timothy and Ming have done a great job, but if it comes to the point where they also have to sacrifice their own paycheck (kind move on their part, but not healthy in the long run), then, like Dan-yel said, it has to be remodeled.
An example would be to increase the criteria for getting ads at Nuffnang. You cannot avoid the moneymaker-wannabes from whining and stamping their feet, but I reckon it would be better for the business on the whole. At the end of the day, I believe the supporters will still be there to continue promoting Nuffnang, for it is our first Malaysian blogging advertising company, no? ;) Must support! :p
I get jack on my beauty blog (oh wait, I don't get jack?) on the Nuffnang ad compared to the rest of the ads (who, to be honest, pay a little better), but it's still there to show my support for all you guys who made it a success. Not going to go all Malaysia-Boleh on you, but you know what I mean :)
i read a very interesting write up by kinkybluefairy quite some time ago about the worth of ads space. perhaps she is one of the celebrity blogger which you're talking about? anyway, she said that a blog with x amount of viewership should be commanding x amount of revenue. and i think she has a point. the payout from some of the ads company can be quite awful.
i think nuffnang needs to realise that this business between bloggers are more of a partnership. bloggers will not have any money without nuffnang and vice-versa. and i do know that the amount of money nuffnang gets from ads. having spent 7-8 years in the corporate world somehow got me enough contacts to get certain information rather easily :) ... and with the amount of payout nuffnang get, the payout to the blogger is indeed... quite err... low?
whatever it is... when it comes to business... it's about one getting the better of another, it's about one taking advantage of the other. just have to make sure one doesnt land oneself in the wrong side.
nice gigi : okay! i'll compile all the links left on the comments of this post soon and then post em up so u can click easily :) but if u cant wait u can just scroll up a bit and check them out :P
tine : where are your nuffnang ads? i dont see them! as for increasing the criteria.. that is something to consider but probably not at this point in time :) just my humble opinion on something that has already been long thought out by the bosses! i think they know what's best, and they do see a lot of things that you and i or anyone else probably dont!
sheon : hehe its okay lah. im going to bangkok next week anyways :P
susan c : thankew :))
zewt : hmm. i cant comment on the money thing, but rest assured the bloggers are getting wayyyyy more money than the company is. and no i wasnt talking about kinkybluefairy; she is a very friendly person on and offline, and i respect her muchos as a blogger :) oh and nuffnang doesnt delete those blogs because those blogs can run CPC ads where there is a payout only upon clicks; a fair deal for those spammy blogs who dont get a lot of visitors anyway. re your last paragraph, this business should be a fair business i think!
oh, ive earned 10 bucks from nuffnang since july.. quite an insignificant amount compared to what other bloggers are earning but im happy about it. i mean, i started blogging over two years ago and back then, there was totally nothing like this. cant wait till i can cash out!! :D although.. i think that'll only happen in at least a year's time haha.

Thanks for having such a straight view about blogging and what it entails. You have it write (right).
You talking about me then? How people are as idiotic as I am? I get more than hundred hits a day and yet refuse to put ads.
The Nuffnang needs the blogosphere more than the blogosphere needs them.
Her self-obsessed posts are almost always either stuffed with photos showcasing her 'wonderful' self, or filled with meaningless rants and insults (that just go on and on and on about the same few points) about people who offended her or things that irritated her. It's like she honestly believes that the world revolves around her and that everyone else is inferior and worthless.
I cannot for the life of me comprehend how her blog has managed to become so popular.
Ugh. So very revolting.
Ok, enough. On a completely different note, keep up the amazing, amazing work, pinkpau!! :)
It's a brand new world of blogs....
But there are certain blogs that I seriously beh tahan to read.
I find that yours, Kennysia, Shaolin Tiger and a few more in town are worth to click daily.
Not joking.
Keep up the good work.
I most definetely felt your anger, frustration and disappointment of the situations you were in from reading.
Now, I'm no 'celeb' blogger but I've some advice to share as I read through this entry word for word. Don't take it wrong as I've read the good (and bad) commentaries to your voice by a few bloggers.
First of is though you may have worked at Nuffnang for awhile, I believe you should also respect the company (which Tim and Ming set up) by not referencing to it whenever you can. This has lead to some bloggers taking advantage of letting out their frustration on the company itself.
Secondly, I'm very sure the revenue share had its purpose but it was unclear to me regarding the whole project. Maybe it's confidential (I don't know) but because the details were left out it again opens up room for people to misunderstand the opinion you're really trying to express here.
The other part I noticed which is sensitive in the blogosphere and between friends even is labeling them ungrateful. In the situation above, you're literally putting yourself in the middle of the war field. Think along the lines if you were the government and you called someone unpatriotic out loud.
Seriously, I'm not here to lecture or instruct you on how you're to blog. Personal blogging is still around but instead of saying bloggers are more controlled I'd like to say more responsible.
Veteran bloggers (or mature writers) think about the sensitivity of certain topics and content which would not only damage themselves but others in the process now.
Anyway, I have to thank you because at the end of the post it got me thinking of a good article to post regarding this matter. :)
Regards.
june : dont fret about it - it's not important who it is. i wrote this post to get a message out, and i'd much rather people understand that rather than try to guess who im talking about, or in some cases go around proclaiming there's going to be a blogwar. so silly lahhh all these blogwar crap
sheon : sigh so pretty
davidlian : haha you and albert of glaringnotebook.com should get together and pun each other to death :D and thank u for the compliments :))
vincent : i dont think it's idiotic to not have ads on your blog :) good for you. i think there needs to be a good balance of blogs with ads and without. keeps the scene from getting too money-driven
shadowfox : i think the blogger-adnetwork rship has to be symbiotic, but i also dont think there is room for rudeness in a business relationship, esp one that is based on friendship (not all, but the ones im referring to are). which was my point, which you missed.
aw : thank u. damn sien of people who take things out of context and twist what i say to put forward their own agenda.
ugh : XX may be a diva, but you have to appreciate her honesty and straightforwardness :) when she does something or takes a stand, she doesnt discount it by trying to placate people to make friends or fans, or by hiding behind other people to take her blows. i may not agree with some of her opinions ie on foreign workers, but i like her honesty and her fortitude. with her, what you see is what you get :) no fakeness is a good thing. and thank u for the words of encouragement! :))
wingz : hahahha awww i weggot skol you! *sayang
grace : thank u for the compliment :)) now, have you posted a comment on ST's blog? gogogo. otherwise he'll have another day of silent protest again :P
hw : eh i seriously want to ask them one day why they do that!!! it takes so much effort right?! one of those life mysteries
danny foo : thank u for ur comments, danny :) very well articulated and written with much wisdom. k let me respond - ya i know what you mean about writing abt NN. the whole time i was working there, i never once breathed a word about it on my blog - but for this post i had to mention it, otherwise my opinion and accounts of bloggers' diva attitudes wouldnt be credible. that said, i'd like to think i can write about any topic i want to and deem appropriate, nuffnang included :) it isnt disrespectful to the company, because both tim and ming have read my post and they didnt put up any red light at all. the external usage of my post by another blogger to forward his own agenda is most unfortunate and i'm sorry it had to happen, but im sure tim and ming will understand that this was not something i intended, and that i cant stop other people from hating NN and hence twisting my words to supplement their opinion. takkan just because of one person, all bloggers cannot blog about NN, right? besides, 100+ positive comments / 1 angry person is really an okay trade-off by my books :)
second - the revenue share concept is very simple. it was proposed that earnings from certain projects be split 70/30 instead of the 100/0 it used to be. a blogger rejected this proposal and didnt want to do it, and i'm just sharing my opinion on how this is frankly quite selfish.
third - point totally taken about how bloggers should be more sensitive in their writing. however, i also do uphold the principles of freedom of speech. it's not wrong for me to think that certain bloggers have bad attitudes; and i projected this opinion in what i feel was a responsible manner, because i never mentioned names or gave totally obvious information (the identity-specific nformation in this post is only in the knowledge of very few), or gave links to any blogs. apparently some people think that i'm bullying a certain blogger, which is seriously the funniest thing i've ever heard, because bullying would be sending my friends and readers over to the other person's blog to leave hate comments. or explicitly attacking this person while revealing their identity. this sort of malice is certainly not something i do or would ever plan to. i am however, an opinionated person, and my blog has always been a place for me to air these views, and i make no apologies for being a person who can think and give commentary. okay this reply very long oredi. i hope i've been somewhat clear! thank u once again for your kind comment, danny :))
I like her blog.. simple & nice.
I know this is a late comment...but I'm commenting anyway :P
Because you have worked in Nuffnang I think you will see more on the behind the scenes than anyone else. And I hear you on your lament, I remember while i was having a discussion with someone from a media company.
She was telling me how there is one "celebrity" blogger who writes mostly about partying and clubbing, she gets tons of hits, and companies can go up to her to ask her to write up a post for no less than 2k...
2k??? Her post don't really qualify for something I'd pay 2k for.. even though her traffic is high.
Good read my dear.. albeit long hahaha
For once, I felt that my crappy and mindless(sometimes it's chim ok) opinions can actually earn me some pennies. I'm not greedy and I do not expect alot. Seriously, I'm really really thankful for Nuffnang.
So, fret not, out there, some bloggers like me, are really grateful for what Nuffnang has done and will continue to support you guys!! :)
