quaintly: I Am Speechless

  • Farah · 1 year ago
The ISA will be the downfall of this nation.
  • jhcj · 1 year ago
Yeah, well i'm sure you'd be a tad bit more pissed off to know that the sin chew reporter AND teresa kok have both also been ISA'd.
  • skyler · 1 year ago
is it just me or should the american jews also be offended by this
  • tom · 1 year ago
teresa kok was detained too, over some really stupid misunderstanding about some azan prayers. totally insignificant compared to what that idiot ahmad ismail did.

bn has finally shown its true colours. lets just pray for the best
  • Kiran · 1 year ago
it's so offensive! i hate politics, politicians and ISA.. It's just so much injustice...
  • KC · 1 year ago
It's not just Ahmad Ismail, Penang UMNO state secretary Azhar Ibrahim who threatened to shoot the reporter first should May 13 repeats itself and Khir Toyo who caused the whole huha about Teresa Kok and the Azan prayers should be also be detained under ISA rather than the reporter. Anyway, I posted on my website that the 3 should be given protected custody rather than being arrested because their lives and safety have been threatened.

  • Jeff from LA · 1 year ago
That's ridiculous that journalists can be detained under the ISA for doing their job. What explanation is the government giving for using the ISA to detain the journalist?
  • Michelle · 1 year ago
OUR GOVERNMENT NEVER FAILS TO MAKE US SPEECHLESS PAU.
  • Its atotalscrewup · 1 year ago
How much more screwed up can Malaysia get...! I am glad Im out of the country... It just makes me sick!
  • kni · 1 year ago
dont you think is so so funny when mr. ah mad is not detained?
I bet he is laughing in his room now, after persuading the gov to make this decision. haih. this is so frustrating.
  • lancefire · 1 year ago
i feel that it is a political play unfolding before us.
Suspending that idiot for 3 years is for appeasing the Chinese.
ISA-ing Ms Tan and Ms. Teresa is to appease the disgruntled Malays who supports the idiot.

Terrible. How is it that the original culprit gets away confortably?
  • Keong · 1 year ago
Oh MAD is not being detained cos of cronyism. Some one is benefiting against each other kot?. How can they simply chop their $$$ making machine?
  • hoi gi · 1 year ago

Study hard and gain employment in NYC. If i were you, i would never return to Malaysia again. Our country is going down the drains and your overseas education would be a waste if you return to work.
  • michellesy · 1 year ago
This epitomises everything that is wrong with Malaysia.
No one Down Under believes me when I tell them the government practises sanctioned racism - maybe this will help prove my point.
  • sheon · 1 year ago
i was so shocked when i got the news last night. and before i could finish typing a post to condemn the recent actions by the useless gomen, news of YB Teresa's arrest under ISA flooded the media again.

i am utterly shocked and terribly upset by the barbaric behavior of our useless, redundant, immoral, corrupt, war-mongering, incompetent, ignorant, arrogant gomen.

down with the barbaric rule of the present gomen. and lets install a new leadership by OUR elected Pakatan Rakyat!!!!!!
  • nickie · 1 year ago
su ann do u think we can do anythg about it? i mean, in time.. not right now. do u think things can be better? sigh i dont wanna see msia die in the hands of some morons ruling the country.
  • zzzyun · 1 year ago
sigh our country never fails to make us speechless time and time again.

i'm utterly disappointed with them for bringing bk racial sentiments (EVEN THOUGH IT DOESNT WORK ANYMORE) just for the sake of garnering support for the next GE instead of doing something it the right way. AHHHH!!!
  • mchllchn · 1 year ago
I think this is just ridiculous lah! As if the Rakyat are for them to manipulate and blahblahblah. And the racist is freed to talk more bullcrap in mamaks while the three are in detention.

  • thegeekinpink · 1 year ago
i'm shocked and disgusted. If they detain every journalist who brings us breaking news of what politicians did, what's the point of NEWS in our country?

... this is the downfall. our politicans are like a pack of wild dogs, ganging up on unprotected rights of our citizens. under this thing they called ISA. bullies.
  • Mabel · 1 year ago
I am utterly disappointed with how Malaysia's political situation is turning into. It is really going down the drain. And Chinese does not have any position to stand at all.

I am graduating mid of next year, and really considering to stay in Australia or back to Malaysia. I love Malaysia, but not the way it is becoming. Do you think that positive changes is coming soon?
  • Jane · 1 year ago
when I read the news, i was very shocked and angry. This is how the government handles their opponents or so called problems to them. I really hope sept 16 will happen!! if not, RPK and anwar, and all of us will b doomed/
  • chimpanzee · 1 year ago
seriously im thinking of moving to somewhere else.our politicians SUCK most of the time.if chinese and indian community do not fight for their rights they'd live under malay's oppresion for the rest of their life.who cares im being racist here?even a politician who made racist remarks did not get the punishment, who cares about me? Malaysia is bleeding. Like a leech bite, it bleeds profusely… and the ‘leeches’ are still sucking and infecting every part of our ‘body’ leaving blood stains all over. And we have been bleeding for 51 years! We have bled all these years beyond recognition, and I’m not even sure what this country is becoming into but whatever it has become, I don’t like it and it angers me. In spite of this anger, I know that we must remain calm and level headed in these times of uncertainty and change. We all know that what has been going on these past few weeks is nothing short of a desperate and dangerous political game the ruling government is playing to cling on to power. But I must say that the way we Malaysians stand together, hand in hand – Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, and all races fighting against injustices of a corrupt, despotic and repressive government brings hope to my heart and tears to my eyes! I’m a feeling a sense of Malaysian pride never felt before. I’m proud that I’m a Malaysian Malaysian - not a Chinese Malaysian, a Malay Malaysian, an Indian Malaysian, an Iban Malaysian or whatever we have been told we are in our ICs. And I hope that this will all end someday and we’ll look at this period of history as THE defining moment where we as Malaysians finally stood as ONE. That I’ll tell my children and my children’s children that I was there during our darkest moments. No, our darkest moments was not May 13 1969 as everyone would like us to believe. Our darkest moments would be 2008 if we failed to rise up and allow this government to rule for the next 50 years. So, let this be our finest moment. This is my hope. Hope for a better Malaysia. After all, all we have is hope. For without hope, we are nothing. And we have nothing but hope. We gain nothing without hope but we gain everything with hope. Let’s stop Malaysia from bleeding any longer!
  • Erisha · 1 year ago
am absolutely agreeing with you. FREEDOM OF SPEECH for us nations? Yeah right. Day by day the government is getting out of control. I'm just mortified to want to know what's gonna happen to our country as a whole soon.
  • malaysian · 1 year ago
sometimes i worry about our nation. after 51 years of independence, we seem to be beginning a civil war? =.= the people wants stability, and the politicians are doing their best to stir things up.

chinese and indians and ibans and kadazans have been here for more than 51 years, and we are every bit as malaysian as the malays. we love our nation, and even though we complain like hell (come on, everyone complains about their nation AND home AND family AND their own selves occasionally) we still pack that malaysian flag when we leave for oversea studies. we still yearn for homeground, still miss the nasi lemak and all the little things about malaysia.

so why stir problems? and why is the person who initiated the problem let off so easily?

i love my nation. but i wonder if our politicians do. and when i say MALAYSIA, it comes with all our "prided various ethnics and races living together in harmony". tanah melayu belonged to the malays. malaysia belongs to all of us.

there are no squatters here. and the person who slanders should be penalized harsher. and we should stop pointing that wretched finger and start working on patching our beloved nation up again.

will the leaders of the nation please do something before we die off on our own volition? *sigh*

Case 2) mosques blare out chants oblivious to other people > sum1 complains 2 an MP > MP asks mosques to TONE DWN (not turn off)the loudspeakers > sum1 complains > MP gets detained under ISA... where the hell is our country going 2?
  • Cherrie · 1 year ago
this is simply atrocious. there is nothing more appalling than having the law to protect the rich and powerful and leaving the rest in the dust.

The government promotes a ‘multi racial country, living in perfect HARMONY<-- as if lar. I so want to interrogate them with mega loud speakers that cannot be switched off kind, which continually repeats: ‘a multi racial country, living in perfect harmony’ in that KLIA aerotrain announcement pace and tone (‘the aerotrain will be arriving, please stand clear. Aerotrain akan datang, sila...) menge-drill di dalam otak mereka... misleadingnya this harmony statement. X_X. why is this politician making remarks like this when we are suppose to be 'living in harmony'? because he is an idot. an idot who does not want malaysia to move forward.

some innocent person trying to expose the truth; so contradicts democracy. oh ya, i shall repreat in the same procedure "democracy- freedom of political expression, freedom of speech and freedom of the press. is malaysia still democratic?" isnt this person suppose to be protected by this system? we are all cheated.

  • jessie · 1 year ago
urrgh i feel the same way too, was in utter shock when i heard the news from my mum. i never scream WTF! why are all of them so dumb? their only digging their own grave deeper n deeper. how is all these bickering gonna set a good example for the younger generation? besides have u heard that the MOSQUE DENIED THAT THERESA WAS INVOLVE? tell me MALU OR NOT THESE STUPID POLITICIANS?! simple go n make a statement, get innocent ppl arrested then realise they are in a wrong, and proceed to release them. damn malu i tell u, i feel so embarass for these politicians. everyone thinks there are stewpid. never think before acting. n the foreign minister said that the reason why they were detained under ISA was to "protect them cos their life is threatened". gosh! HOW DUMB CAN THEY GET? no one is their right mind would believe that stewpid kindergarden reason! shouldn't they be protected instead of being detained! words just can't describe how screwed up the government is!
  • hw · 1 year ago
"there is something very, very, very wrong if a POLITICIAN who makes RACIST STATEMENTS AND THREATS is protected by the law"

not only is one politician protected by the law, but another one is being arrested because of our country's draconic laws (or rather a specific one). Took them a few days to throw a suspension for one, and the other ISAed in less time.

in any case, with the latest reversal of the arrest on the SCJP reporter, I think the govt itself is trying to incite hatred and racial tensions so we would all fight against each other, and probably the one way that could unite the Malays together.

funny thing is that this is not like decades ago, we aren't that susceptible to such tactics anymore...
  • passerby · 1 year ago
all malaysians were force-fed with the BN inferior & divisive brand of patriotism, unity and harmony for so long. it was literally shoved down us, that we are so enlarged, confused, uncomfortable and too sick to even move. probably, then it is slaughter time. pray and hang on.
  • Janice · 1 year ago
    ISA = I Simply Arrest

Seriously, ISA needs to be abolish, or it will be the cause of the downfall of malaysia, we're not moving forward, in fact, we're going backward

can't be helped. this IS the state of affairs in malaysia at the moment and nothing can be done. be it we like it or not, ISA is here to stay and AIsmail is here to roam the luxurious hotels sipping wine and smoking cigars and be proud that he's made those remarks.

anyways, anybody and just slam him with the fact that parameswara was from indonesia. so ask him to shut the fuck up, he's a blardy immigrant as well

The strong arm tactics will only serve to destroy the BN. They're digging their own grave, and they don't even know it. It feels like a last ditch attempt to save the coalition.

...er, but then again I was photographed with an BN YB last Friday, but it was for a charity. I voted opposition.
  • KC · 1 year ago
I am just wondering if Malaysians realised how the ISA was executed in two similar cases differently? I think the explanation given by the police and the Home Ministry are flawed in both events. They should either detain both politicians (for inciting religious and race sensitive issues) or both journalists (for reporting the events). Didn't our PM say he is fair (or will be fair) to all MALAYSIANS?

Utusan Melayu UMNO owned newspaper, Zaini Hassan (journalist) v.s. YB Teresa Kok (politician - DAP)
Loser (Got detained under ISA) ? = Teresa Kok

Sin Chew Jit Poh, Tan Hoon Cheng (journalist) v.s. Ahmad Ismail (politician - UMNO)
Loser (Got detained under ISA) ? = Tan Hoon Cheng
