Hmm, I'm not trying to plagiarize your feelings and words here ya. Just that I too, have been encountered those moments and feelings for the past weeks- didn't met with pleasant results and yeah, felt hurt and upset that my genuine feeling and concern was taken lightly or used against me. It makes me feel that perhaps living in my own world would be much better, of course, with the people that I still love and loves me back.
Hope that your life will be surrounded with more good and genuine people =) *Hugs*

I treat all my friends as best I can and I'd stick my neck out for everyone of them anytime, without expecting anything in return. But once the trust is betrayed and you know they wouldn't do the same for you...well thats when you cut your losses and know they aren't real friends worth having. Nothing wrong with caring too much...At least you gave them a shot and you know you tried your best to be a good friend...but you gotta know when its an exercise in futility cuz all relationships are two way roads and while you give as much as you can, when the time you need help comes along... thats when you know which friends are worth keeping and who you can count on. Nobody's perfect though...so I suppose you gotta pick and choose your friends carefully.

Su Ann, you shouldn't worry too much about the friends that you can't fully trust/rely on and just focus on the good times with the ones that you can trust. When you go abroad to school, there's going to be a natural filtering process. The ones that are truly good friends will keep in touch with you and those are the ones you're really going to miss. The others will disappear. At least, that's what my experience was like when I moved to Asia for a couple of years after college.
So really, you don't have to worry about the friends that offend you, don't treat you well because after you leave for the US, its unlikely you'll have to deal with them very much ever again.

Looking back, it was not a very rational thing to do, as now because of how we fall apart, I was left alone, hurt and sad, and I mourned so long for a person that I now see was unable to love me or allow me to love. I wasted many tears that was not appreciated.
I think I am telling you all these because the last paragraph brought tears to my eyes. May our hearts, no matter how faint, never stop loving. :)

I totally understand how you feel about your friends whom you so cared about, backstabbing you or offending you etc, had that happen a few times and even one of my closest friends back in sec school turned on me...
Sometimes you just wonder how these people can be that insensitive, evil, selfish, treacherous etc and take advantage of your friendship just like that... well I guess there are just that kind of people in the world otherwise we would be living really peacefully and no this world is not like that unfortunately.
the highest layer of friends will be the ones that come to you whenever you need them, whilst the despicable rest will come to you whenever they need you.

About the layers of friends.. it's true.. You can't help but get hurt when you feel that you friends don't care about you as much as you did for them... or even worst .. when they backstab you. I used to feel the same way when I was young.. but later.. I just stopped caring about those who don't care for me. Kind of cruel, I know... but that's how things are... As you get older, you'll see who are your true friends and who are those so called "acquaintances"...
