A movie about Old Malaccan Heritage houses... I've heard nothing about it till now! And me a Malaccan too! If you've been to Malacca lately, you'll see that the old town had been spruced up like a christmas tree. Things just don't feel "old" anymore.

I suppose that finding a torrent for this impossible, right?

Cultural preservation in the interest of monetary gains is not necessarily inconsistent. It is just Reality.

It is people who do not want to recognize the utility of money in keeping alive any preservation efforts that is missing the point. Because then it is just being Smug and those people are just bunch of hippies.

Patrons of arts, cultures and all other finer things in life are generally, those of the affluent who could afford their time and money to give a feck about those stuffs. 'Cos without having to worry about money, people just have to go looking for something to worry about. This common rich men's exercise is also known as having a Purpose in Life (TM) to them.

Try telling a poor ass Indian man why he should not steal and sell off tiles from the Taj Mahal to tourists for money to feed his starving wife and 6 kids at home and I'll tell you that Van Gogh is only relevant today because there are rich people who would pay exorbitant prices to make his work valuable. Otherwise, he'd just be another silly dead dude to the next starving African kid. Well, at least he didn't die of hunger.

Cultures, arts and the value of a Big Mac are pretty much similar to your ideals- they are all Relative.

gosh, this is a MUST-WATCH for me, given my peranakan roots! This is the first time I've ever heard of a movie featuring peranakan tradition, I'm so excited!!! Thanks for the awesome, honest review, pinkpau!

k0k : yeah dont think there will be torrents for this, or vcds for the time being. yup the last time i was in malacca i noticed the difference, but thankfully it's not that bad..... yet.

alea : sigh at least it's being screened!

kit : i was going to say that your idea of arts and culture is so patrician, but then i read the last line in ur comment. and just because reality isnt pretty doesnt mean it has to stay that way.

tze : yes well that is what the higher powers of our country like to make us feel, as if we're only temporary tenants that dont really belong and play no real part in the formation of their tanah tercinta.

bs : aiyo i wish i had time to watch movies.. the few that i've watched as of late were at the expense of assignment-time and school-time.. haha

michellesy : doubt it but perhaps the vcd will be out by then if they're planning to release one

    lalita : tgif indeed!! :D

darkhello : you're peranakan? soooo cool! haha yes go watch it if u have the time :)
