  • Kevin · 1 year ago
Oooo just got back from the Batman movie and I see your review about it hahaha...the best thing about watching Batman was I get to do it on the clock! =D , company's movie day heheeh, watched it earlier then go back to nap on the clock
It was really nice...but I think it just lack some ass kicking hero vs villian moves and more use of his gadgets will make it a really perfect movie

I bet you got him a ps3 / wii hahahaha
  • Kevin · 1 year ago
I also have to say that I think the Joker actually outshone Batman in a way haha...
  • yerdeh · 1 year ago
Christian Bale is the perfect Batman, I really enjoy how he goes the extra mile for any character he plays. Can't wait when he becomes John Connor in the Terminator series. GOOO CHRISTIAN!!!
  • Michelle · 1 year ago
Happy birthday to Martian. =D I never thought that he was a Cancer. I've just turned eighteen like 7 days ago!
  • Jeff from LA · 1 year ago
I just saw the Dark Knight as well. That movie was incredible. Heath Ledger's performance is really Oscar-worthy. He was the center of attention in every scene he was in without trying.

I was also impressed with how they based the story around the duality of good and evil and how complicated both are.

Last, I agree with you, the Bat-gear/Bat-tech is great. I really want a Bat-bike. That thing was awesome. Especially when it flipped over the huge truck.
  • Andrew · 1 year ago
this is the best review i've read of TDK! can't believe u actually made me want to watch it even more now!

i have to wait another week before it's out in uk... sigh... y uk so slow when it comes to movies... do u know that kung fu panda only started showing here 2 weeks ago?
  • foreverjas · 1 year ago

yup yup yup i'm not going 2 read this YET because it seems like a VERY interesting show and we don't want spoilers.

but jack Nicholson really freaks the hell out of ppl
  • Yappy · 1 year ago
TDK is soooo good!!! The Joker is really mental. This is the best superhero movie I've seen this year. I like the Tumbler, but the bike is even cooler! I think I'm gonna watch it again. :)))
I'm guessing that you got him a game console, ps3 maybe? Happy birthday martian!
  • Ivan · 1 year ago
Isn't Heath Ledger dead on drug overdose?... do they give oscars posthumously? I do agree that his performance here was top notch.
  • nyrac · 1 year ago
i haven't watched the movie yet. in fact, i've never really been a fan of superhero movies. i can't even remember when was the last time i watched a batman/superman/spiderman movie =.=||| but since your review made it so positively glowing, i guess i could give it a try and watch it :)

and as for Martian's birthday party, i can't wait to read you blog about it. happy belated birthday Martian!
  • Anonymous · 1 year ago
I watched TDK too and it was one of the greatest superhero movies EVER.
  • sheon · 1 year ago
i watched Hellboy instead. and i think it's a pretty good movie.

i'll watch batman next week. but i have no doubt at all that i'm gonna love it!! i cant say batman is one of my favorite comic heroes...but i dun dislike hime lar.....its only the metal nipples that i cant agree on. hhahaha......

belated birthday wish to you martian. and i guess that pinks bought you a game console....an xbox or wii .....
  • sieutheng · 1 year ago
    gimme the cake, now!
  • thegeekinpink · 1 year ago
watching this was all the more eerie knowing heath is dead. it felt weird, disgusting and so chilly! but i really really love his performance, it's amazing it's his best yet and because of this, i honestly think this is the best batman movie ever.

btw, happy birthday to your boyfriend
  • Jay · 1 year ago
I honestly don't know how to react to TDK. I loved Batman Begins and Batman. Batman Returns and Batman Forever were decent and I like to pretend Batman & Robin don't exist.

    ***spoiler warning for anyone ahead***
Anyways, back to TDK...I felt like I was wanting more when the film ended. It felt like it ended because it was getting too long, like they decided to say, "okay, time to end this thing!" (Kinda like this paragraph!)

I had more issues on the movie and if you want details or just a good decision on Batman, MSN me.

Finally, I don't know about you, but I was really hoping to see both ferries explode is a fireball after a "BOOM" flag appeared from somewhere. That's a true Joker bomb.
    ****END OF SPOILERS****
  • kennysia · 1 year ago
What EXACTLY did you give Martian? A hard disk full of porno? I thought that was last year? :P

    [SPOILERS]
" i just want to say how i love the fact that they gave the audience some history and insight on the Joker, and allowed us to connect with him and try to understand for ourselves why he turned out the way he did"

Eh did they do that? I thought Joker just made up his "life story" as he went along, he gave two different stories of how he got his scar, I thought the whole point was like Alfred said he wasn't a normal criminal whose psyche could be figured out rationally.
  • pinkpau · 1 year ago
waffle im not talking to (or replying ur comments) until i beat ur score!!!!!!!!!!! im playing now!!!!!!! dont disturb
  • k0k · 1 year ago
I'm a... Joker (not Batman) fan, from way back. I read all the definitive comics on the Joker and he's my favourite fictional character (not just villain) of all time. I totally love the way they skipped his origin stories (i'll explain the plural) and in spite of the fact that his clown face was only make up, I'll have to say that this joker is the only live interpretation which is true to the comic books.

Joker's origin is murky as different comic writers gave him different ones. Joker himself remarked that he can't remember which is the real story because if he was going to have a past, he preferred "it to be multiple choice".

This movie is also the first Batman movie to be directed and written by a TRUE fan of the franchise. It explored the most beloved themes in the Batman mythology - how Batman is just as batshit insane as the Joker himself ("you're a freak, like ME!") suggested in The Killing Joke (1988), how Batman represents order while Joker, who represents chaos, is the direct consequence of that - and that Joker needs Batman ("you complete me"), as shown in an issue when Batman was purportedly dead and after killing Batman's alleged murderer, the Joker became sane and led a normal life, till Batman returned and Joker became nuts again. The MAIN theme here is taken straight from The Killing Joke - how One Bad Day can turn someone just as nuts as the Joker, only in the graphic novel, he did that on Comm Gordon while in this movie...

Harvey Dent's story was spiritually lifted out of Batman: The Long Halloween series (1996-1997) which dealt with the tragic, tragic rise of Two Face. If you can only read one Batman comic in your lifetime, The Long Halloween is your bet. It's Batman at his detective story finest.
  • aimee · 1 year ago
HAHAHHAA i actually guessed PSP, then thought martian couldn't be that insane to abandon you for a handheld game console. so my second guess was a camcorder. Or a i don't know, magic 8 ball.

But it really was a psp! Haha!
  • k0k · 1 year ago
It's the Tumbler, by the way. I spotted a typo in quaintly's!!! OMGOMGOMG *screenshoot*
  • King · 1 year ago
    Watch it for Heath Ledger!
  • Jim · 1 year ago
"..with the grand prize going to the Batpod and this flabbergasting new invention that he uses to locate a person..."

Hey there, locating a person anywhere in the world wouldn't be too impossible nowadays with many smart phones coming with GPS receivers ; )

Still rarely used by the public though, but we'll get there - bye bye privacy!
  • Tim · 1 year ago
Looks like we will never talk again :(
  • GnomeFan · 1 year ago
i saw the trailer a few days ago. The joker seems like the main attraction for the movie. i don't know why. maybe that's just in my head but it kept pulling me to go and spend my money to watch the movie!

will try to find some time and go watch it. i'm sure it'll live up to the hype.

p.s : i also read that it broke the opening week record that was set by spiderman 3.. wah!! now really wanna watch! :P
  • hw · 1 year ago
    Happy (belated) birthday martian!

wah psp! i want one too! qq... everyone has one of those nowadays.... hehe...

wei dont need blog about you and martian.. got enough stories to become tv drama series?
  • spot · 1 year ago

  • pinkshirtz · 1 year ago
woo hoo ... finally back from thailand... Didn't know that geekinpink was actually a girl (and so pretty somemore) ... haha...

TDK is good! Its the best movie i've watched for a year or two ... the 3 twist n the end was a good suprise. And i loved the joker, he overshadowed the batman in this movie. Poor dude should still be alive!
  • Huai Bin · 1 year ago
I loved The Dark Knight too! :)
The best part is of course Heath Ledger's performance. I love the way he explains his scars in three different versions. I like the explanation done when he crashed Bruce's party.
Too bad he decided it was a good idea to take massive amounts of oxycodone with benzodiazepines. No more sequel from him then.
  • Darren · 1 year ago
definitely movie of the year, too bad heath is dead. His performance was brilliance, it was one of the best i have seen.
  • sieutheng · 1 year ago
heehee! i watched 2nd time at imax again! christian bale's face on big big screen = yummy!
    i want the cake!
  • Eleanor · 1 year ago
i just watched it last night, and the script was so good that i was crying half the time... yeah, why so serious right? the one liners have been running thru my conversations so much that it's killing my friends. :p

heath ledger was incredible... and yes, all those little gestures really added to the character because it made him believable, not as a cartoon character but as an insane person. always been a fan of his... you have to watch candy. have to!!! it's not as good as requiem but his acting alone is worth the watch.
  • Jay · 1 year ago
Btw, I was searching the interwebs and I found a certain oreo video...interesting...
  • Simon Seow · 1 year ago
It's a city that starts with 'C'. Haven't watch always full house damn.
  • Sam Wallace · 1 year ago
To make a HERO human, all you need to do is to SUFFER/KILL his girlfriend, as in the Spiderman & Batman movies..
  • eunice · 1 year ago
    gonna watch it tomarraw!!! :D
  • martian · 1 year ago
baby thanks for organising my birthday. i had a blast. and it will be a very memorable one for decades to come. i'll write a book abt it one day. a ian mcewanesque one. i love you.

thanks everybody for the wishes. :)

by the way, advertorial or no, su ann spends sooo much thought on her blogs, it consumes her. it's everydrop of her heart. and that's what she did for my bday, and im lucky to have her.
  • patrick · 1 year ago
at times the Joker seemed almost too smart, borderline clairvoyant, but i guess that makes him a good foe...
  • Jessica · 1 year ago
i hv been reading ur blog for quite some time but this is my 1st comment here. i simply love the way u write ur blog, so poignant and detailed. i can never describe my feelings best in writing but when i read urs, i can relate urs to mine perfectly. sometimes i feel we have so much in common in the inside, however i'm a more introvert and less optimistic person than u who seems to hv lots of friends and enjoy life. i always learn sth from u, u kinda inspire me in different ways. so pls dont ever stop writing. now u know u hv 1 more supportive reader, u must continue to write ya. i really love ur writing.

i never fail to read ur blog whenever i come online, i always look forward reading ur blog. this post on TDK is so brilliant that i totally agree with ur views which makes me finally decide to write a comment on it.

thanks for inspiring me and sharing ur stories, feelings and thoughts.

be happy always, su ann (may i call u so?) =D
  • nyrac · 1 year ago
su ann thanks for writing this review, 'cause if not then i wouldn't have went to watch the movie, and i would've missed out on one of the bestest movies i've ever watched! i loved the dialogues, i loved the wit, i loved the acting, and i loved the scenes, and oh i just can't stop raving about it to my friends now.

"i'm just a mad dog chasing after cars. i don't know what to do with them after i've got them, i just chase!" brilliant.
  • KH · 1 year ago
hmmm.. no1 mentions o the perv edison eh? i just saw a lil glimpse of him in the show... asking Morgan Freeman for his hp to keep at the security in HK building

  • playing slots for fun · 1 year ago
Powerful acting, powerful action, huge IMAX sequences give this Batman a great big commanding feel. However, story is held hostage to action, especially in the second half.
  • daily comic book guy · 1 year ago
I had my doubts, but they pulled it off well.
