  • Be the 1st to comment....... ENjoy ur 4 years stay in US... Believe me, 4 years is really a short term , depends on how u see ...wish you all the best..
  • Wow that is one effin' huge bag. Bon voyage! I would say "keep the accent" but you don't really have one :/
  • You'll do great! And I'm sure, you'll be terribly missed. Take care!
  • “coming into singapore from malaysia is like getting out of a jungle and being welcomed into civilization”
“it’s okay to pay extra, after all it’s only ringgit. the ringgit is like leaves of a tree!”

    =((((((

1st pic of pau in bag : spr cutey!!1

    heh.
  • Hee... Going to 'miss' u although we dunno each other. Haha. Farewell...
  • the luggage pictures are damn funny wei! who take photo for you.. or is it mr self timer? anyway i want to ask you something! which bus service do you use for the singapore-kl route? haha cos i wanna go back but i dont want my parents to send me back if they're not free..
  • either the bag is damn big, or you are damn small.... heheheh. Have fun in US!
  • When I left Malaysia to further my studies, I was so sad to leave behind friends and family. I was like a homesick puppy. After several years, I didn't want to come home. My parents attended my convo and practically had to drag me back home. :(
  • remb my book!!! too bad we couldnt meet before you leaveee but nvm la we're more like online friends anyway haha
  • Ok, I HAVE to comment, 'cause I see a lot of coincedences in this entry!!!

    1. I prefer to sit in the lower deck of the bus too! So much more comfortable. And I haven't had the luck of being exposed to so many other different types of passengers, 'cause 9/10 times, I get the mobile phone guy! The guy who talks so loudly. -_- I swear, the last mobile phone guy I met, I knew his whole life story 'cause he felt compelled to call EVERY SINGLE FRIEND OF HIS to relieve his life story-- from his first crush to how he went to s'pore to work. -___-

    2. I met albert at a play too! He's my best friend's friend, met him when I was in high school! Doubt he remembers me now. =/

    3. I also think I met Nazrul recently. He works for NTV7 right? :P

    4. We have the same luggage bag!!!!! It is too small, I guarantee you. T__T

And last but not the least, where is this teochew porridge in pudu!!! :)
  • Su Ann, I thought I just your post recently saying that you have 2 weeks left.. and now it's 2 days? Gosh, time really flies... enjoy the last 2 days here in KL with ur family, Martian n friends, I bet it's hard to say goodbye.. keep on blogging once you're there okay.. your posts nvr fail to brighten up my day :) And btw, you travel via Aeroline ar? Heard their meal not so nice lar!
  • Goodbye Pink Pau.. :(

    I so sad
  • wow i really like the red -- dont bring too many books cos you can get them easily there and you dont wanna lug them back in 4 years.
  • sigh i really feel so sad when ppl say that m'sia has no future, then all this political issue that make us disappointed even more, then where ppl saying dt m'sia is not worth loving..

sigh this is so sad but like there is nothing we can do...

cool photo btw haha! all the best to u when u r in US!
  • Have a safe trip to this side of the world! Keep an open mind and I'm sure you'll have some great experiences.
  • but u'll be back right? as in u're not gonna be there the entire 4 yrs are u?=s

but anyhow, 4 yrs is gonna fly by really quickly..trust me..=) before u know it u'll be back home already..take care of yourself, have fun and all the best! ooh and try the pan mee at paramount garden! its super good..=)
  • So sad to know that you are finally leaving...i'm gonna miss you. sob sob
  • so sad to know that you are finally leaving. gonna miss you. sob sob
  • i love the teochew porridge in pudu too.... as someone said earlier, will miss you pau, even though we've never really known each other personally. but after years of following your blog, i feel like i've known you forever =.=|||
  • have a safe trip! and that pic of your friends is so cute. :)
  • wow haha when i voted for the "big bag" option i didn't expect you to come up with something so... ginormous haha. you look so cute inside!

see you in like 1month and then some.

kiasu andrew: hahaha why am i not surprised that you like the color? :P
  • I admire the way you tell your stories! I feel like Im going there with you too. Serious.
  • The last time I went to US, I didn't feel like coming back. Honestly staying there is a lot better than here. The sky in US is very beautiful and blue
  • is martian gonna cry?

Have a safe trip Su Ann and cant wait to see your adventures in the US of A
  • take care. all the best! can't wait to read about USA ! New York! u will be the best!!!! support u! u + martian!!! yeah! u can he can!!!!
  • i'll miss you! *sniff* When are you gonna come and sleep in my cursed guestroom mattress again?
  • but you are so mini!! :D
teehee are you going to put your whole closet in there like how ginny is doing although shes only coming to corea for 1 week!!

    all the best!
i will miss seeing you going out late at night from the balcony!
although i already am in kimchi world :(
  • i'll be in us too, but florida for me. but will be in ny sometime january. hope to see you there! (: anyway, i kinda agree on what you said about those opinions and views from the foreigners about msia, because i found them a little discriminative and shallow sometimes. oh well.
anyway, does your luggage have the TSA lock thingy? cos i think the usa customs are quite strict about it. (:
  • i dont know why but i MISS YOU!!! sigh :(
  • =(
    take cares!
  • You'll probably experience a sudden change in dimension! When you come back to KL, it would be just like how you left and it feels as if you've never been to USA...really!!!
  • PInkypau T_______________T why T___________T

You look about 3 ft tall in the luggage bag hahaha
  • hello pinkpau, good luck in the U.S!
gain new experiences and share some wif us via blogging. xD
hope u'd still hv time to continue blogging but of cuz, your studies come first!

ps: u look so cute in the luggage! =)
p.p.s: i like your pajama pants!
  • that. is. one. huge. suitcase.

which is precisely what i need! :D i can never have enough storage space.
  • in four years, you get tell the white people that their countries are equally shit!

also: singapore is a fascist butthole. at least here you have democracy.
  • oh well. the sad truth about how the country looks like to some others. i just saw this video on youtube where they were also making fun of the country for trying to ban avril lavigne (haha, she's so retarded now, she should be banned anyway.)

but it was kinda sad at how they poked fun at the country eventhough it was quite true.

    sigh.

anyways, HAVE FUN IN THE USA!
hahaha. love those suitcase photos! so cute! did you use self timer or get someone to take for you?
  • remember to bring me! :(
  • YOU GET A SINGLE?? woi my room is 160sq ft and THERE ARE TWO OF US T_______T life sucks wtf
  • All the best in the States. Too bad you can't shop here now. =p
  • Welcome to the US!

I know you're already beginning the process of missing everyone, but remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder. You'll be able to cherish your time with your friends even more when you see them in the future. Most importantly, by the time you come back home next, you'll have a bunch of new friends.

Oh and good for you for being brave enough to go half-way across the world for school. I always wanted to do it, but I never was organized enough to accomplish it.

As for the expats, I hope you don't see them as proper representatives of Americans. They always manage to send the most ethnocentric white people abroad. When I was in Asia, I hated every last white person I met there. If I had to judge white people based only on expats, I'm sure I would have a very negative view of white people.
  • Of course, perhaps once you're in the US, there will be a lot of things that you miss about Malaysia as well or think that Malaysia does better, so maybe you'll understand the expats attitude better.
  • 1. agree with jeff above. i was never particularly 'proud' of malaysia back home. once here, seems to get all 'defensive' abt malaysia. .weird..

    2. yes, i agree with the comment regarding the luggage lock. in fact, due to the hassle i did not bother to lock my luggage for the last 3 times i travelled in and out of USA - may not be a good idea though. do update yourself to the latest requirement.

    3. SELAMAT DATANG !
  • update more bout ur life in US k? i enjoy reading ur posts =)
  • Hhahaa long way to gooooooooo...you come...I GO muahahaha
  • have a safe flight ya~
  • that is a really big bag o.O since u can fit in it hahaha
  • short of time to read the post properly :-P but just thought of dropping a comment first.

1.don't the australian lady sound a bit racist? hmm.. ... gleneagles offer excellent service to everyone irregardless of their skin colour lo.

    2. O_O that is such a big luggage bag~ and the last pic a lil' scary :-P. have fun packing =)
  • the last picture very scary okay!!!
and why is your dorm so small *_*
  • good luck and have a safe trip su ann, i'm sure you have an amazing year ahead of you. am flying back to manchester tonight for another year of working hard and playing harder. eat as much local food as you can, and enjoy your remaining time at home.

ps. i totally understand not being able to fit everything you would like to bring into your suitcase, am trying to tackle the same problem now, i have way too many pairs of shoes! xxx
  • You're so crazy in those pictures! Hahahaha.

Anyway, it's just four years. I'll be here for six maybe more... Maybe, I'll never be able to come back to KL. I feel that I have no roots here, sometimes. And yes, skype or msn is just not enough. It's not enough when you're not there. Like the blogger wildlife party. :(

I feel like I've missed so much and I do not know who and who is up to what... It's like my friend suddenly had a boyfriend and I didn't know about it till now... And then another one went up North to do training... Sigh. I can't even attend farewells and antyhing!

Maybe this is a form of sacrifice.
  • the angmohs really said those things? omg. well at least you've never had anyone ask you 'is malaysia a country or what?'. -_-|| u take care of yourself okay. dorms are gonna be small, so don't bring too many shoes and bags. i assure you, you'll still wanna buy more when you get there haha!! bring somethg that is more sentimental, things that will remind you of all the happy times with your loved ones, thgs that you wont be able to buy in the US. :) bon voyage! have a safe trip, and enjoy every moment of your time! don't spend too much time being sad okay babe! hugs.
  • i remember this phase......shopping for luggages, going for farewell parties, meeting up frens, eating all the 'important' food... but it wasnt me who was leaving, and it turned out she really did go on and never returned. hahahahah...you know the story.

aih...i thought you would've bought the hard case samsonite-like luggage? i would've gone for that if it's me. :P

the mat sallehs are right about malaysia. tho all the politicians would rather be in a state of denial and have the face to claim that bolehland is on par with so many other civilized countries. what a shame. (and it takes a prime minister to figure out there's something wrong with out train service, and after so long and soooo many promises made over a span of 10 years. and thats only the train, make him take the bus and see what he has to say!)

dear pinks, i'm sure you'll find life more exciting there!!! and after a while, you'll have sooo many great friends from all over the world.....

lets hope my plans for christmas '09 materializes.... and i'll be snowballing you in the US.
  • haha. the last pic so unexpected. cute tho. Continue blogging about ur life in NYC!!!! take lots and lots of pics!!! :)
  • i hope u meant kin kin chilli pan mee and not anywhere else!

    bon voyage! :D
  • All the best in the big U.S.A! :)
Wish u well in everything! :)
  • I agree with all that Jeff from LA said. I hope you'll find what I found on my expat experience-- people are the same the world 'round (good, bad, smart & stupid, rich & poor), but it's our individual cultural and personal differences that make people beautiful! I hope you appreciate your unique background as the wide world opens before you. And study hard!

Selamat Datang di US! Just wait until you try our pizza here! And bagels, pastrami, and clam chowder! You'll find a whole new world of food, from cheesesteaks to cheesecakes.
  • STUFF THE WHOLE BAG WITH JUNK FOOD! Haha!
  • hey! im flying back to new york the same day as you! well originally i was suppose to fly off today, but because of the typhoon in hk, my flight was cancelled (my flight was suppose to stop in hong kong). what airline are you flying and what time si your flight? I hope to see you at the airport :)
  • hey pinkpau,

    ciao
  • AJ

You'll find that Malaysia is easier to love once you're far away from it. All the things you usually whine about are gone, and you remember only the good things.

also: we have the best food in the fucking world. go ahead, tear up your malaysian passport, you'll just condemn yourself to never eating awesome koay teow.. forever.
  • just arrived ny. they confiscated my chicken flavored instant noodle. =(
i miss big apple. they don't have it here.
  • Good luck Su Ann and welcome to the next exciting phase of your life - tertiary education woot! =)

I am sure you'll make the most out of your time in NY. Life is sweetest when it is most pregnant with possibilities, as yours is now.

I know you'll miss your family and friends, and they'll miss you too, but think - you'll be able to fall into each other's arms rapturously after a separation of months =)
  • anonymous stalker

"..in the FUCKING world. go ahead, TEAR UP your malaysian passport, you’ll just CONDEMN yourself....."

what did i say? chill man!
  • and oh, do go check out abt the checked in luggage requirements, cos someone just told me that we can only carry 23kg for each baggage, and we cant combine the weight into 1 huge luggage. (: thought i should let you know!
  • I still remember cramming ALL my stuff into my luggage (which is almost as big as yours) before going to Australia to study. But in the end it got too damn heavy to even drag it out of the house lol. So I packed some of the heavier stuff into boxes (like shampoo etc) as it's more convenient and all you do is check-in to baggage ^_^ American security/immigration is pretty tight too, don't look suspicious and no liquids !
All the best and good luck !! Look forward to hearing your stories !
  • yea i know what you mean.. i feel sad and annoyed when people (especially if they were once malaysians) say things like 'malaysians don't know how to drive' and complain about malaysia roads, politics etc.
  • sorry arrr..testing..cannot seem to get my comment posted.
  • hey su ann, im not much of an active commenter but just wanted to drop you a 'all the best and have a safe and good time in US' message.

tip from someone who had the same problem with packing:
pack smart. mostly essentials and little momentoes. and a few of yr favourite items. there will always be more shopping to do later in US.
    happy packing :D

p.s. you look cute in the first photo!
  • sorry paupink... when i got to aaaaaaaaarhussssss, i went straight to the uni... bloody hell. first place no furniture in my room. so i'm at my second place now. it's currently 11.15 pm and no self respecting danish would open to sell food at this ungodly hour. so for you, i shall eat chipsmore...

the thing about growing up is that there's more things to do than just watch balls of fury or talladega nights, more people to meet than ah kow your best friend and more places to go than just toys r us. the tragic thing is that there isn't more time in a day.
  • very cute pictures there! :) good luck in everything!
  • HAF FUN PINKYYY
    WE WILL MISSS YOU!!!!! *cries*
  • Hahah gg man, your dorm room size the same as what eric and jeremy used to stay in..you'll have space for nothing...dun even think can put your 2 big ass luggages hahaah...move out!
  • All the best PinkPau!

I know ur gonna miss Malaysia.. the weather, the people, family and friends... but trust me, ur gonna have a blast in the States. 4 years might sound a hell of a long time, but time flies when ur enjoying yourself. New York city is definately the capital of the world. So many things to see and explore. See you soon at the other side of the world!!!!

    Speak soon
  • pinkpau i am sure that you gonna have the time of your life in the states! safe journey! :)) and have fun! think happy thoughts, happy thoughts!
  • and you look sooo cute in the first picture :DDD
  • Pinkpau, you should feel loved. Look at all the commenters who are here to wish you good luck and good friends that are going to miss you when you leave.
  • Hey pinkpau

4 years will fly by. once you get settled into the hum drum of uni activities and hanging out with people there, 4 years will fly by in a blink. it'll always feel the hardest when there's a lull in between busy periods, but you'll cope.

cheer up girlie. enjoy what is the best time of student years. i wish I enjoyed mine even more, and I loved my uni years.

it came to a point when i feel sad when i left UK for home during summer breaks, and sad again when i had to leave home for UK for a new uni term.

again, wishing you the very best. :) you have plenty of friends in the blogging world who will only be a click away. (it's not the same i know.... but do cheer up.... it's a new season; new adventures, new experiences, new sights - be excited.)
  • may i knw ur luggage's size, it allows u to squeeze inside ... wondering
  • OMG u are so cute =x...
