I forsee a bright future for Mas ^_^
Also; kinda sad that I'm uncomfortable with how polite and efficient cashiers/waiters/etc are here compared to the ones in Malaysia.
The service industry back home could use a LOT of help, too. But I guess it's easier to blame bloggers, huh.
You are so right - there is a lot to be done for improvement. And yeah loh, blame everyone else except that is, the powers that be lah! And damn right about the blardy tempurung man.
Damn fine post, Su Ann! You go girl!!! =)
anyway, this post has got to be the most angsty, anti-patriotic one yet, even though you usually don't have much to complain about the country. but it's so right, so apt that my further commenting would be insulting it.
i do hope that you don't get served. :)
Anyway, i hope they publish this on The Star or something. MMMMonster kill!! fo shizzle.
Woh, now I'm getting all-riled up reading that article in the star!!!
“The bloggers are creating a wrong impression of the country by writing anything under the sun without getting the proper facts and figures,” he added."
What is this man!!!! 'Writing about anything under the sun!?' How can we even write about anything if they don't want to let us? (re: rocky bru and jeff ooi being sued by News Straits times). If anything at all, they should stop being so paranoid and anal about blogging!!
Hehe, great post btw. Loved reading your first anti-patriotic rant. :)
I like that. LoL.
They really need to start getting somebody with any semblance of originality and intelligence in the tourism ministry.
Am really having second thoughts about going back. -.-"
Otherwise, I probably, wouldn't be around any much longer. Tee hee...
Oh yea, I'm back from MANILA!!!!
everyone bitches about it and its still the same.it will always be the same.at least for the next couple of years.
me? i'm thankful for the fantastic hawker food here, especially to the person who created fried oyster.
the bad govt is a common rallying point for most people in a land which has so many areas for disagreement to sprout. the question lies in how long this fragile balance will last.
talking about msian govt and its stupidity always gets me riled up. so freaking narrow-minded and completely missing the BIG PICTURE omg hello...our politicians' stupidity never cease to amaze. aih. i want to say a lot more, but err don't want to get you into trouble ala jeff ooi. so i better stop. :P
you go girl~~
i like this post su ann, now if only the govt reads this and make a change.
/dreads the return home in Aug
anyways yeah la cibai policeman with an anti rasuah badge once took rm8 from me because i had no license (i lost it wtf) and was driving on the emergency lane. rm8 was all that i had la but rm8 also he want! once also i bribed a police rm30 cuz i was going at 110km/h!
you know what i wanna do, i wanna.. start a revolution wtf
"if you dont like it, leave" is the most ignorant thing that anyone can say. the worst kind of patriots are those who leave the country when things go wrong, as is ur suggestion. and if we 'marginalized' folk get pissed off enough one day to pull an exodus on the country, do you honestly think that msia will be able to sustain itself? backboneless and uneducated and uninformed people will then be running the country's politics and economy - let's see what fireworks happen lah when that rolls around.
i completely abhor people like you, who think that people have no right to air their opinions. so, what you want, everyone just sit around being ignorant and play congkak izzit? sit around and let the govt manipulate you like puppets izzit? and as for doing something practical, why dont you give me a suggestion, seeing how when people attempt to 'do something practical', they either get arrested, remanded or slapped with a lawsuit? oh and then there are the anonymous fuckers who come around squealing "ooooh if you dont like it why dont u leave!!" u know what, u and tengku adnan should get together and have a fucking tea party - he seems to enjoy telling people to 'leave if they dont like it' as well.
get out of my blog lah. stupid little idiot.
I'm not saying that cos I'm one of the people you get to " view ur blog either to get attention/popularity/ by defaming the country" . I'm a peace lover so anonymous don't flame back me ar. I'm not trying to insinuate that you should be flamed like that cos you're an idiot. Plus my dog just died today I swear so I need to stop being bitch for a bit to get some karma for him in doggie heaven :) Would seriously love to share my 2 cents worth of an unemployed woman's thoughts but later they say I'm spreading lies and causing disharmony how !? No can do, no can do.
unfortunately, from what i've seen and heard, the same kids griping about the anti-rasuah cops asking for bribes are the SAME people paying the bribes. if you truly want a change, let's start at home.
let's hope they are more people like you, who complains productively (for lack of a better word)
and i had no idea the ferris wheel cost 30mil, thats an absurd amount of money spent but whats new lah, we've always known the government to spend stupidly on stupid things locals are swarming there to "view malaysia from the top" but again these are the same people who don't even travel within their own country.
I've personally given up on reading our newspapers, watching tv or listening to radio, because it provides such an "edited" view of our world. I'm glad that I can come to a site written by an 18 year old and it makes more sense than some of our country's short term and long term plans.
I hope in time (at least in our life time), we, the people who have had enough of this bullshit from our elected officials (I cringe at calling them our leaders), will rise up to kick them out of office and provide better governance.
Patriotism is about love of our country and it's people, not the government, or the choices made by the government. As a democracy it is the very responsibility of the people to voice their opinions and to demand that the government listen.
Dear anonymous no.27, based on this news report, i believe you're targeting the wrong person.
Dear badawi no.17, this is not a site to show immaturity LAH!!
anyway i said i really love this country to bits, with or without all its flawed splendour. although at times i wish this place is a tiny bit better, the govt is a tiny bit more efficient, just slightly less corrupted, ministers just a little less ridiculous, ppl just slightly less obnoxious.
but i'm tired of wishing. and i don't have the guts to write something like this. i think i'm succumbing to the mentality this govt is trying to brainwash me into. it's like i wish i can stop eating but i can't sort of thing.
and i think by the time i am 30, i'll be one of those anonymous-es who leave ugly comments telling ppl to just goddamn leave the country and not complain so much, pretending everything is fine and dandy when it's clearly not.
i don't know what i'm trying to say so here's my abrupt end to this comment.
(i love your reply to that guy. full of angst. i'm so turned on wtf)
Yay PinkPau!!
about the film industry, i totally agree. Yasmin Ahmad have created a new meaning of Malaysia's film. It's raw and it's the real life. It's modern yet very traditional. compare to other stupid movies like Anak Mami and low class movies making lame immature jokes. BURN THOSE MOVIES. waste of cinema space, and money.
right on, su ann. i agree with you 500%. i think you should run for minister. =D make MALAYSIA MAJU! Make it more pink and happier!
Badawi and the ministers should kiss your feet.
such imbeciles.

entwined : no worries, my blog very small only.. nobody monitor me wan. actually i wonder what the requirement is to be minister of tourism. must one be well-traveled and knowledgeable abt the cultures of the world? or must he be a good strategist and visionary? or must he be diplomatic? coz it seems like this dude is none of those.

melvin : WALAU which malay newspaper berani run that report!!! i am so impressed!!
sweat : it's good to love the country. i love malaysia too.. as do a lot of others. but this kinda blind love is what the corrupt and the sneaky feed on. they turn our own patriotism against us, and precisely because we dont realize it until it's too late, we become the downfall of our country.
election : oooooh yeahhhh pink cabinet!!! hahaha!! my cabinet meetings will have ice cream and chocolate cake instead of karipap and gula melaka kuih..

aimee : thank u, my friend, thank u :) im just ranting away.
jess : izzit? i thought rm1.00?
adrian c : so if i get served then how!
Anyhow, both are monkeys in suits.
no one says thank you to me everytime i open doors for them. No one returns my smile when I try to be polite. Which is rare. When I speak nicely, they yell back at me.
Did i tell you abt the time I fell sick and passed out at a side of a road near the curve? I thought i was gonna die. And one staff from the curve came and banged on my window - not to help or to offer help - but to scold me as to why i am SLEEPING there. SLEEPING you know. Already no fucking brains. and then yell "Nevermind la!" and walk off.
I saw The Curve plastered all over his tag so I know he works there.
Hypocrites = malaysia.
And that's only the manners. Don't get me started on religion and culture (work/social). Sheesh.

badawi : stop it lah
violet : wow that's downright horrible of that guy. such a helpful and concerned society we are..

Tourism Minister Baffled by Truthful Blogger
Kuala Lumpur - Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was allegedly baffled today when a woman blogger told him an astounding piece of truth.
"She came up to me and said that I have a very large dick," Tengku Adnan allegedly said. "And then she proceeded to blog about it. About my dick. And how big it is. This is unprecedented on so many levels."
The minister came under cyber-fire in recent weeks for calling all bloggers, most of them he identified as women in an unannounced study, as liars and unemployed rumour-mongers.
"The Government spend billions each year on employed liars already - they're called politicians," Tengku Adnan allegedly said. "There is no need for more unemployed liars on the interweb."
This new development, however, have thrown some doubts to Tengku Adnan's gross generalisation.
"I don't understand how she could have uncovered the secret about my extra-large dick as it is classified under OSA. And she's a woman, and a blogger, so she should be spreading rumours that my dick is small. This new move just doesn't make any sense," the minister was rumoured to have said.
However, the issue will not affect Malaysia's Visit Malaysia Year 2007 as Tengku Adnan was rumoured to have made assurances that we have enough lying female bloggers to contribute to the event.
When contacted, the female blogger in question refused to comment on how she managed to get hold of the information as well as rumours saying that she, in fact, is a he.
"i dun wanna tok abt it. Even tho it is big. Like cucumber liddat," came her/his short e-mailed reply
The fiction: They call us liars. Bloody hell lah.
What other options they have than to find irrelevant reasons to blame others for their own pathetic failure.
Everything they do is a hopeless failure, take a look at the education department.
Malaysia, you piece of shit.
