  yeah. it's the one thing that unites all bloggers, friends and foes alike.
  
  sometimes if i remember to, or i'm stopping for a while to blogsurf, i'll click on "save and continue editing" JUST IN CASE.
  
  tough luck though :/.

  Doesn't wordpress have a safety measure? If you try closing the window, it prompts you if you really wanna close the window.
  
  But sometimes when I am extremely frustrated, I write out my post on notepad first lol.

  If you are using Firefox, you can try tab mix plus, one of my favourite extensions which can be found here: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1122/
  
  Turn on the undo close tab feature, and you can be rest assured that your tab can be reopened even if you closed it accidentally. It saved me a lot of troubles and frustration. :)

  Eeerm, if it's a window then the half-done post can't be restored with this extension... If that's the case, I would give the same advice as others have given above - either turn on the warning when you are closing multiple tabs (Are you sure you want to close blah blah blah), or type it in somewhere else safe first like notepad, words, or Gmail. Gmail would be a good choice, since it has autosave every minute.

  ARRGHHHHHHH - yup, I've done that too. And I've also lost some really nice stuff because my Internet connection failed. GAH.
